4H Program

Head – managing, thinking, developing critical thinking skills.

Heart – relating, caring, developing friendships.

Hands – giving, working, volunteering and helping out

Health – wellbeing, healthy living, taking care of yourself and the planet

GRA-TZ’s efforts with orphans and vulnerable children led to the creation of the GRA-TZ 4H Program. The four “Hs” stand for the core values of 4-H and how our members dedicate themselves to being responsible, caring, and contributing young leaders.

With a history spanning over 100 years, the 4-H program now boasts over seven million members across more than 70 countries. This program is delivered by professionals and volunteers through school and community clubs, in-school and after-school programs, and 4-H camps.

Designed to help youth “Learn to Do by Doing” and “Make the Best Better,” 4-H offers a variety of projects that young people can choose from, completing them with guidance from adult leaders in a fun, inclusive, and safe environment that fosters individual leadership.

The combination of practical skill-building activities, meaningful leadership roles, and partnerships with caring adult volunteers in 4-H programs has been shown to prepare young people for future success. A longitudinal study by Tufts University in the United States found that 4-H youth achieve higher educational outcomes and are three times more likely to actively contribute to their communities.
