About Us

Mission

Global Resource Alliance – Tanzania (GRA – Tz) is dedicated to bringing hope, joy and abundance to the Mara Region of Tanzania with simple, natural and affordable solutions to the challenges of poverty, hunger and disease.

History and Board of Directors

GRA – Tz was registered in 2008 as an international NGO affiliated with Global Resource Alliance – USA (GRA – USA) to support community organizations in the Mara region of Tanzania. Two of GRA – USA’s board of directors, Lyn Hebenstreit (President, GRA-USA) and Tara Maria Blasco (Director, GRA – USA) also serve on GRA – Tz’s board along with Tanzanian nationals Esther Mwita (former Director, GRA-Tz), Saria Amillen (Director, VIFAFI: Victoria Farming and Fishing Cooperative) and Madaraka Nyerere (Coordinator of Cultural Center Butiama).

GRA – Tz was originally founded to import drilling equipment and hire staff for drilling boreholes. Major grants from GRA – USA, Gorta (Freedom From Hunger Council of Ireland), WeForest & Deloitte Belgium, Fair Water and the Ferguson Foundation have allowed GRA – Tz to expand into a full range of programs including permaculture, herbal remedies, orphans support and solar cooking.
